Hi patient readers…

Sorry to be away for so long. It has been a whirlwind at work! The new boss is awesome - if we could only get them to stop scheduling meetings every 20 minutes so we could sit down and talk about what we want the library to be…. sigh!

That will happen - no doubts!

So over the weekend, I did something interesting. I was an extra for a short film that was being filmed here in DC. The movie Offline is about a guy who only meets other guys through Internet chatrooms. The guy’s therapist and a friend encourage him to actually go out and meet real human beings. Well - I was part of the crowd at the club when the guy goes out.

The shoot went smoothly and I have new respect for background actors who have to stand there take, after take, after take, and hear the same five lines said over and over and over. The great part of it was I lucked out with a delightfully conversant group. One guy I knew already from theatre work here in DC. The other three guys were great fun.

So in our day-long conversation I mentioned that I am a Librarian and they were duly impressed. So I guess we don’t have such a bad reputation after all. I also learned about Le Mars, Iowa - the Ice Cream Capital of the World!

And the movie will premiere in October. Now - back to work!
