SLA_Division of Government Information LogoWell - it is official. When I renewed my SLA membership this year, I joined the Government Information Division.

I’m not sure why I was dragging my feet - really just kept forgetting to join. Peggy Garvin is the current Division Chair and I’ve known her since I was in Library School - (not so long ago, I was graduated in 2000). I’ve also known former Chairman Richard Huffine for a while too. So last year at SLA I attended the Division meeting and promised to join.

In addition I thought I’d offer to help out in the Division. So now I’m thinking about attending the SLA Leadership Conference in Louisville, Ky next January. I thought about attending the 2007 Leadership Conference in Reno, Nevada. I got some good comments about it as well.

This year I have already talked to my upper management. I think it will be good fro my own professional development for sure.
